Senior Copywriter

Contrast & Co. is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and highly engaged individual to join our growing team. The ideal candidate brings a carefully honed capacity with writing and content deliverables of all shapes and sizes, has worked in a creative or agency environment, and most importantly of all, has the vision, drive, and determination to help us build something truly transformative.

The position at a glance.

The Senior Copywriter is charged with leading voice development for engagements across a wide range of industries, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring a polished, dynamic, and strategic approach to language for touchpoints large and small. In this role, you’ll need to absorb and distill a wide array of client-driven and contextual inputs—then translate that context into head-turning phrases and ideas that resonate with the right audiences across the country and beyond.

Reporting into the Director, Strategy & Content, the right candidate will create and champion work that sells ideas, inspires action, and drives affinity. You’ll collaborate with designers, digital producers, strategists, and client teams to create concepts and assets that drive meaningful engagement and results. You should have a knack for big-picture thinking and a dedication to the smallest details of grammar, self-editing, and brand positioning.

Ultimately, we are seeking someone with the ability to think big, focus small, and balance the daily to-dos with the future vision. An all-star with exceptional prioritization and organizational skills is a must, but someone who also possesses a dedication to building the systems and frameworks that help creative outputs scale is even better.

The intangibles.

So, what does it take to succeed here? Glad you asked.

You must be passionate about writing.

First and foremost, you are hungry. You are pursuing greatness, and refuse to accept mediocrity in anything that you do. The best wordsmiths in the world write because they need to, and that is exactly the person we are determined to find. Quite simply, we want someone who bleeds creativity. Someone who goes to sleep with fresh ideas and turns of phrase still racing through their heads.

You must be organized and fast.

Our industry favors the fleet, and we need a Senior Copywriter who brings real speed to the table. Someone with the ability to intuitively understand a creative problem and conceptualize messaging solutions in lockstep with working teams. In order to do that, you must balance systems and frameworks with broad strokes and brain dumps. You should cringe at grammatical errors and champion efficiency techniques and tools wherever possible. And ultimately, you must relish feedback and iteration, cultivating new ideas and concepts while never falling in love with any one word.

You must be comfortable wearing many hats.

We’re a small team, so you have to be comfortable diving headfirst into new challenges. There is no uniform template for the projects we tackle, so we want someone eager to create order where it’s lacking and systems that stick. There will be days when you may be a strategist, a researcher, a writer, and a designer all in the same meeting. Point is, things change daily here, which is exactly how we like it.

You must have a great attitude.

When it comes to personality, we want a true team player. We want someone who collaborates well in high-pressure environments. Someone with the confidence to know when to defend their ideas, but the humility to recognize the strength and perspectives that others can offer. Someone who can at once effectively mentor and elevate the others that surround them. This will be a critical role within this budding agency, and you must be equipped to handle your responsibilities with grace and poise. You need to be highly detail-oriented, responsible, and reliable.

Finally, you need to be curious. This industry moves far too quickly for us to ever become complacent. We need someone who is constantly seeking what’s next—someone with a disdain for the status quo, and a thirst for the undiscovered.
