Project Manager.

Contrast & Co. is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and highly engaged individual to join our growing team. The ideal candidate brings a wealth of internal- and client-facing project management experience to the table, has worked in a creative or agency environment, and most importantly of all, has the vision, drive, and determination to help us build something truly transformative.

The position at a glance.

The Project Manager is charged with overseeing day-to-day project activities for engagements across a wide range of industries, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring an efficient, engaged, and enjoyable experience for all key stakeholders from start to finish. The project manager is responsible for resourcing and financial reporting across the agency, and should bring the know-how and adaptiveness necessary to evolve and improve how Contrast & Co. navigates projects from day one.

The right candidate should be just as comfortable synchronizing internal teams as coordinating clients and stakeholders, and should have experience leading and structuring large-scale engagements with parallel creative work streams—from strategy and brand to messaging and design to interactive engagement, campaigns, and everything in between. Ultimately, we are seeking someone with the ability to think big, focus small, and balance the daily to-dos with the future vision. An all-star with strong organizational and master prioritization skills is a must, but someone who also possesses high EQ, a friendly demeanor, and a ‘get it done’ attitude is even better. Sound like you? Let’s chat!

The intangibles.

So, what does it take to succeed here? Glad you asked.

You must be passionate about creative.

First and foremost, you are hungry. You are pursuing greatness, and refuse to accept mediocrity in anything that you do. The best creators in the world make because they need to, and that is exactly the person we are determined to find. Quite simply, we want someone who bleeds creativity. Someone who daydreams in pixels and goes to sleep with fresh ideas still racing through their heads.

You must be organized and fast.

Our industry favors the fleet, and we need a project manager who brings real speed to the table. Someone with the ability to intuitively understand a creative problem and conceptualize solutions in lockstep with working teams. In order to do that, you must know the tools of the trade. Experience with the most efficient and user-friendly project-, budget-, and workflow-management tools is essential. You should know features and shortcuts like the back of your hand, while relentlessly pushing for the best emerging platforms and opportunities to streamline processes in truly elegant ways.

You must be comfortable wearing many hats.

We’re a small team, so you have to be comfortable diving headfirst into new challenges. There is no uniform template for the projects we tackle, so we want someone eager to create order where it’s lacking and systems that stick. There will be days when you may be a strategist, a researcher, a writer, and a designer all in the same meeting. Point is, things change daily here, which is exactly how we like it.

You must have a great attitude.

When it comes to personality, we want a true team player. We want someone who collaborates well in high-pressure environments. Someone with the confidence to know when to defend their ideas, but the humility to recognize the strength and perspectives that others can offer. Someone who can at once effectively synchronize and elevate the others that surround them. This will be an incredibly important role within this budding agency, and you must be equipped to handle your responsibilities with grace and poise. You need to be highly detail-oriented, responsible, and reliable.

Finally, you need to be curious. This industry moves far too quickly for us to ever become complacent. We need someone who is constantly seeking what’s next—someone with a disdain for the status quo, and a thirst for the undiscovered.

Primary responsibilities.

  • Manage creative projects and deliverables from intake and briefing to client handoff, acting as team quarterback and liaison throughout
  • Build out projects and schedule core meetings and collaboration sessions, ensuring team members involved are informed and well equipped to balance creativity, strategy, and efficiency
  • Serve as day-to-day contact for projects/campaigns
  • Proactively predict and remove any roadblocks that may delay a project timeline
  • Continuously look for ways to improve processes—if something’s not working, what can we do to fix it?
  • Work closely with leadership team and project teams

Requirements.

  • 4+ years of proven work experience as a project manager or similar role (agency experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience defining project scope and managing against a timeline and/or budget
  • Experience building and communicating project plans
  • Experience with Project Management tools
  • Client-facing and articulate
  • Detail-oriented, responsive, and organized
  • Impeccable time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Great attitude—open to feedback and constructive criticism
  • Ability to be in our Annapolis, MD, offices a few days a week is preferred, though not required
